As a Staff II Engineer in the Modern Applications Business Unit (MAPBU) team you will work within a team of 30+ engineers, product and design to develop and execute best practices in designing out our systems, frameworks and products. What you'll be doing
You will be a software developer with an emphasis on open source and community engagement. You will focus on a solution for the architecture and components that make up the pipeline for deploying workloads in kubernetes, Your role will encompass sharing your technical experience and architecture opinions as part of a team working on this effort.
This will involve responsibility and accountability for:
Articulating workflow and pipeline best practices
Supporting a Framework and Vision for teams to coalesce around to build and distribute context
Helping ensure a shared context on the architecture across the Pillar
Helping distilling the vast technology possibilities to down to concrete priorities
Being a force multiplier - Supporting the growth in knowledge of your colleagues through mentorship and example
Bringing clarity where there is uncertainty, managing risk and continuously delivering value.
Scope of the role
Desired Skills & Experience:
8+ years Engineering experience, especially with large scale, distributed technical solutions
Familiar with and knowledge of pipeline tools including tekton, concourse, spinnaker, argo, jenkins etc.
Able to breakdown complex problems into simple solutions
Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to mentor others
Ability to work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision making
Demonstration of applying systems thinking to solve organizational problems.
Ability to collaborate well with engineers, designers, and other partners
Experience with Agile development methodology (such as Extreme Programming) and/or experience with development methodologies suitable for large, community-driven OSS projects.
Comfortable with ambiguity. We work in an iterative and incremental way, balancing many different inputs and constantly making trade-offs.
