Based in Saginaw, St. Mary’s of Michigan is a regional health system offering high quality care in cardiovascular, neurosciences, orthopedics, emergency and trauma, cancer, bariatrics, imaging diagnostics, and primary care. A part of Ascension since 1999, we offer 268 beds and over 20 specialty centers to provide access and care for people from over 70 counties.
The Office & Patient Coordinator organizes and coordinates the activities and flow of work for the assigned clinical program.
Facilitates the development, implementation and evaluation of program services and initiatives.
Prioritizes multiple tasks and projects to ensure timely completion.
Coordinates the handling and processing of office administration duties specific to the assigned clinical program.
Collaborates with others to assist with problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new services, and systems/performance measures.
Ensure patient care needs are met while at the program, which includes completion of daily nursing checklist and multidisciplinary progress notes as applicable. Ensure completion of the Census report as directed and assist patients with completion of consents and patient admission process as directed.
Assumes clerical duties for the program, including, but not limited to, filing and form tracking, coordination of supplies, meals/snacks, and routine environment of care log monitoring.
Ensures quality and regulatory compliance, including billing and insurance verification.
Provides safe transportation to patients as applicable.
Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Valid Michigan Driver's License required at date of hire or job transfer date.
Medical Assistant obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. In lieu of a Medical Assistant, a Certified Nursing Assistant is acceptable. A Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience providing care to older adults in hospital or nursing facility environment preferred. Experience performing secretarial or clerical duties, working with computers and electronic medical records required. Good driving record, comfort with transportation and driving a van required. Experience transporting patients preferred. Knowledge of community resources for older adults, familiarity with medical terminology and medical team roles functioning with other hospital departments.
