The qualified candidate will be responsible for assisting with skin surgical procedures for the treatment of skin cancer and other related skin diseases, as well as, providing direct patient care for patients in the Cutaneous Surgery/Oncology Unit.
Licensed Practical Nurse in the Mohs Unit work independently with the physician for the following procedures: Consultations, Mohs surgery, reconstruction with flaps and grafts, wide local excisions, post-op follow ups.
Review surgical procedure, medical history, medications and allergies prior to surgery.
Obtaining vital signs and entering all data into MI Chart.
Assisting with procedure, bandaging, and review of post-operative instructions.
Administer and document medications as ordered by physician.
Telephone triage, pathology follow up from wide local excisions and biopsies.
Notifying patient of results and review treatment plan.
Coordinate treatment plan as indicated by physician.
Assist in training of newly hired MA’s and LPN’s.
Provides cross coverage for co-workers.
Assist RN’s with daily responsibilities as directed.
Participate in monthly staff meeting and other work groups as assigned by supervisor or physician for process improvements.
Quality improvement projects as assigned by supervisor.
Problem solve issues related to retrieval of medical information.
Other duties also include: Attend appropriate continuing education, staff development programs.

- Graduation from an approved school for practical nursing.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Computer literate, working knowledge of Word and Excel.

- Minimum of one-year ambulatory care clinic experience.
Hours: 40 hours per week, variable hours from 7:30a - 4:00p and 8:00a - 4:30p
Day Shift: Monday-Friday, with the possibility of Saturday clinics in the future.
