Internal Medicine - F4
The Internal Medicine Unit consists of 20 beds and specializes in treating conditions such as sepsis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, digestive disorders, heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, liver disorders, renal failure, diabetes, deep vein thrombosis and pneumonia. This unit sees a diverse population of patients, which offers learning every day for both new nurses and experienced nurses. The staff places a high priority on teamwork, support and providing compassionate care. The nurses foster a unit of collaboration that sets them apart from others.
Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) Nurse Residency Program is designed to assist the novice nurse transitioning from entry-level advanced beginner to competent professional nurse. The twelve-month program will be facilitated by academic and clinical faculty/preceptors engaged in the progressive development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
The Nurse Residency program supports the novice nurse in the delivery of safe, quality care within a collaborative interprofessional healthcare team environment. Additional support will be provided to the nurse residents in the form of peer groups, competency reviews and workshops.
The nurse resident interprets the philosophy and goals of HFHS to others in the work setting; functions within established guidelines and demonstrates the ability to work effectively and develop therapeutic relationships with patients, their families and other professional and supportive personnel who provide patient care. Nurse residents will also participate in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and engage in implementation of solutions promoting optimum patient outcomes.
· Position: 36 hours per week
· Shift: Midnights 7pm to 7:30 am / Every other weekend after unit training

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with less than six (6) months of experience in a related area of nursing practice
· Successfully passes NCLEX-RN and holds an active, unrestricted license within 30 days of hire. If unsuccessful, the Nurse Resident will be eligible to apply for a Nursing Assistant position until RN license is obtained
· BLS Heath care provider certification preferred
· Successfully completes within orientation. Sign a statement of commitment
