Controller
Job Summary: The Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
The Controller supervises staff Accounting Coordinators and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.

- Pay/Salary: $90.000 - $100,000 per year
- Schedule: 1st Shift, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Responsibilities/Duties of Controller:
- Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
- Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
- Completes all daily banking requirements.
- Ensures the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
- Ensures the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Collaborates with upper management to support overall department goals and objectives.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Responds to inquiries from the Governmental Agencies (IRS, State of MI, etc.) and managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, and the like.
- Ensures a clean and timely year-end audit.
- Supervises the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Provides training to new and existing staff as needed.
- Handles personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
- Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Supports upper management with special projects and workflow process improvements
Qualifications for Controller:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and five years of experience in Financial Reporting/General Ledger area or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
- CPA Certification preferred
