The Medical Assistant will provides coverage for this role as well as the secretarial positions when needed: Obtains patient information and vital signs; assists the physician with patient follow-up calls, screening and follow-up with patient test results; maintains medical record information; coordinates patient care information with other health care providers; obtains prior authorizations. Assisting in phone triage this position answers the phone and directs callers to the appropriate person/department; takes messages; set appointments for the patients; assists with insurance verification, collection of copays, and management of medical record files. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her area.
Minimum Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program or LPN program.
Registration/Certification or License Required: Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider or completed within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Experience: 1 year experience working in an outpatient clinic or medical office.
Physical Requirements: Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push/pull 50-100 lbs. (e.g. empty bed, stretcher). Occasional sitting and walking. Occasional squatting. Frequent standing. Frequent twisting, bending and reaching. Frequent keyboard use. Frequent talking or hearing.
Other Requirements: Ability to read and write consistent with job requirements. General working knowledge of and ability to use office machines, including computers. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
