Communication Design Leads are the clarifying voice: an integrative and ordering force that shapes our work and makes its purpose clear to the world. Communication Design plays a critical role in our dynamic, interdisciplinary teams. Whether it's crafting a well-thought out Medium post, responding to some newly launched service with a timely tweet, or just reinforcing our mission to guests and interested parties, our Communications Lead will be the common voice and carry the brand into the world.
As the Lab Communications Lead you will ...
Develop a communication strategy and cadence for internal and external communications channels.
Work with leadership and project teams to develop key narratives that elevate our brand and thought leadership.
Design and produce assets, artifacts, and tools that support our Lab Communications, internally and externally.
Collaborate with teams to bring our voices, stories, and concepts to life.
Lead the design and distribution effort of Lab Communications artifacts, including, but not limited to, our bi-weekly newsletter publication for internal stakeholders.
Work with multidisciplinary project teams made up of designers, engineers, brand and business strategists, and others.
Collaborate with our community to help build and maintain internal and external communications channels.
Work with Ford Communications, marketing and PR to make sure our brand and voice are singing in tune with the Ford chorus.
Act as a main point of contact for Ford Communications and brand conversations.
Work with leadership to build and execute an events and speaking strategy.
Support the design and production of events through visual branding, experience design, and artifacts.
Design cultural artifacts and communication assets that enable internal initiatives from the design of our physical space to talent and onboarding.
Contribute to multiple, distinct projects fluidly and seamlessly.
Communicate our offerings using a clear, direct, relatable brand voice.
Support the preparation and production of project presentations and community presentations.
Strengthen the lab's social media presence on platforms including, but not limited to, Twitter, Medium, Instagram.
Experiment with new tools, processes, methods, and approaches to production and communication design
The minimum requirements we seek:
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, PR, Communication Design or New Media
Three or more years' relevant work experience in communications, PR, social media management, production, new media, or an associated field.
OR
- High School Diploma or GED and seven or more years' experience in Graphic Design, Communication Design or New Media.
Our preferred requirements:
Passion for design and detail; strong verbal, written, and visual skills. Comfortable communicating and advocating for design solutions to a broad audience.
Self-directed and self-motivated; ability to see the big picture, and at the same time be detail-oriented and delivery-focused.
Ability to balance speed vs. perfection in a fast-paced, scrappy environment.
Ability to take a project from ideation to completion. Attention to detail, with an eye for consistency.
Strategic approach and the ability to explain the rationale behind your design.
Passion for leveraging design to effect large-scale societal change.
