Position Summary :
Assures that quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the Michigan Nurse Practice Act, McLaren Lapeer Region, and nursing department standards. Utilizing the nursing process, functions primarily in direct patient care. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient rights. Begins leadership and preceptor participation when performance demonstrates ability.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides professional nursing care directly to patients
Administers medication to patients as directed
Initiates and monitors IV's and IV medication
Assesses patient condition using vital signs, test results, monitor readings, etc.
Interacts with physicians and charge nurse regarding patient condition
Prepares patient and equipment for medical procedures as required
Interacts with patient families regarding patient condition
Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and patient families
Performs patient teaching duties including discharge planning, medication reconciliation, etc.
Consults reference materials as needed
Initiates, develops, and maintains nursing plan of care
Performs other department related duties as assigned
Provides comprehensive care to the trauma patients
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Must possess valid State of Michigan Nursing License
BLS certified within 3 months of hire
ACLS Certified within 6 months of hire/transfer into department
TNCC within 1 year of hire
ENPC within 18 months of hire
CPI within 1 year of hire
Preferred:
CEN Certification
Previous experience as RN in Emergency Department
PALS
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum)
ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification)
