The Installation Engineer Intern will learn and aid in the development of the statement of requirements for upcoming projects and assist in the management of the execution of process equipment installation in various Manufacturing Centers across North America. Innovation and initiative are key characteristics of this position. An installation contractor will report to this intern, and the intern will be directly responsible for all aspects of their work, including Safety, Schedule, and Cost. This position will require collaboration with the project leader on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
Provides technical leadership for the contractor
Estimates the value of the work
Implements engineering changes
Defines construction requirements
Solves engineering related problems
Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs
Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering, such as manufacturing
Travels as the need arises - assignments will be based on project location
Minimal Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or Professional Engineering
GPA 3.0 or higher out of 4.0
Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week
Willing to work in a plant environment
Desired Skills
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Analytical ability to tackle problems that are unusual and difficult
Sophisticated communication skills to work independently and efficiently with others
Specific knowledge of the union construction industry preferred
Savvy interpersonal styles and communication methods to work efficiently with business partners to meet mutual goals
Proficient in Microsoft Project and Excel
Ability to use AutoCAD
Knowledge of Construction Management
Location: Warren, MI - However, extensive and frequent travel may be required
