Summary:
This role will be responsible for procurement related activities of key commodities and, providing a continuous flow of parts in the optimum quantity in the time frame required from approved suppliers in considerations of standards for quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need. This role will coordinate procurement activities for direct materials and execute tactical procurement processes while complying with procurement policies and procedures and participating on global supply strategy teams. This role will work closely with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure customer service, quality, and supply chain standards are met for assigned categories.
As a part of the Oral Care Business Unit of Perrigo, this role will leverage strong organizational skills, experience in managing multiple projects, and strong communication skills to partner with cross-functional teams to enable families to live better, healthier lives, by providing families with innovative oral care products that provide performance and value as well as entertainment for kids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute direct sourcing and procurement responsibilities, including placement and system entry of purchase orders in accordance with MRP
- Communicate with suppliers on scheduling of materials, and planning of future orders; maintain internal and external customer service level requirements, strategic inventory and metrics for regular assessment
- Understand and plan for supplier downtime, communication of potential shortages. Support Sales & Marketing customer promotions
- Proactively monitor and resolve potential material misses and track, expedite and micro-manage critical orders
- Maintain purchasing databases to ensure integrity of system data such as price and commodity codes and provide necessary information to commodity managers / supplier leaders / other buyers as necessary
- Support cost savings analysis and volume planning; support cost management of pricing, invoice investigation & resolution, logistics supply chain process, contractual obligations
- Report on inventory levels of assigned commodities to maintain a balance of material availability while optimizing DOH
- Use purchasing tools to analyze, evaluate supplier performance KPI’s & work with suppliers for improvements as necessary
- Support the deployment of corporate commodity strategies and contribute to productivity saving and rebalancing initiatives
- Participate in supplier selection and qualification (quantity, quality, logistics, lead time, service level, etc.)
- Responsible for timely disposition of problem invoices with suppliers
- Act as procurement lead in cross-functional initiatives including new product development and product life cycle management
- Maintain accurate and organized documents and data for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance
- Assist with department strategic planning in terms of SKU rationalization, inventory reduction, cost reduction opportunities and sourcing a better product at a better price with improved quality
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chan Management, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience; 3-6 years’ experience in supply chain management, procurement and planning or related field, preferably in a consumer goods environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Teams, with the ability to quickly learn various in-house software applications (SharePoint, ERP and MRP, Adobe Suite) as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with associates and internal and external stakeholders; demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership and multi-national and cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to work through negotiations with results that support business objectives
- Working knowledge of MRP/Material Planning Systems/ KANBAN and Pull System
- Proven ability to manage multiple high priority items while delivering exceptional results
- Ability to travel as needed
