Aquinas College is seeking to add a team member to our Housekeeping team. This position performs various tasks, procedures, and processes related to the care, cleanliness, and general appearance of Aquinas College and its facilities. Cleaning includes daily assignments, regularly scheduled projects, and special work details that are planned and executed to provide safe and clean buildings throughout the campus.
Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks/Essential Functions:
• Works as individual managers of assigned space; responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of that space.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms and shower areas, keeping them supplied with toilet paper, paper towels, etc.
• Empties containers for trash, recycling, and composting. Replaces liners and keeps receptacles clean.
• Vacuums carpeted areas.
• Sweeps and mops hard surface floors and stairwells.
• Dusts and washes surfaces and fixtures to include: furniture, desks, windows and window blinds, chalkboards and whiteboards, lights, railings, walls, doors, and knobs.
• Monitors and reports building maintenance needs.
• Strips, shower scrubs, and waxes tile floors
• Shampoos and extracts carpeting, including the removal of minor stains and cleaning spills.
• Responds to cleaning requests for planned vacations, office moves, space renovations, and project work.
• Interacts positively with students and other college employees.
• Completes work on time, on a regular basis.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Education Requirements:
• High school graduate preferred.
• Demonstration of good work ethic.
• Must be self-motivated and reliable.
• Professional cleaning experience is desired, preferably experience in an educational institution.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed, normally once a month on weekends.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
• Physical demands are constant: Lifting, pushing, carrying, bending, climbing, and walking.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Location and Schedule:
• Housekeepers work from 5:00AM – 1:30PM. Overtime is required on weekends once a month.
