POSITION TITLE: Plant Technical Manager
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager
BASIC FUNCTION: Plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees all manufacturing engineering functions associated with new programs, engineering changes and plant floor processes, equipment, machinery and fixtures. Responsible for providing internal and external customer support in the areas of improved quality, safety and profitability. Drives cost reduction and continuous activities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Develops subordinates and administers human resources activities as they relate to performance and compensation management, utilization of training resources, and the application of company policies and procedures for the manufacturing engineering group.
- Directs and supports subordinates in the execution of responsibilities relating to equipment and process improvements, global 8-D process, cost reductions, program management and engineering support.
- Develops, administers and is accountable for operating within constraints of approved operating budget and projected costs.
- Interfaces with customer and corporate engineering groups to provide required resources for launch support activities.
- Provides program management and launch coordination support for Roscommon plant.
- Monitors engineering changes and proposals as they effect specific components and manufacturing processes.
- Oversees new program development and APQP process.
- Stays abreast of current technologies and engineering trends in order to recommend/incorporate as appropriate.
- Manages departmental benchmarking activities relating to new program development.
- Acts as consultant to staff regarding all manufacturing engineering and design issues.
- Initiates, monitors, manages, and actively pursues cost reduction efforts.
- Carries out assigned functions described in Policies, Procedures, and Quality Manuals, and implements IATF16949 procedures.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Makes recommendations, plans, and suggestions that promote continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Follow systems for IATF16949 and ISO14001
REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
Four (4) year engineering degree required. Minimum of three (3) years experience in engineering or project management. Should be knowledgeable in the design process, work analyses, capacity planning, capital expenditure justifications, plant layout, and direct labor utilization. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to lead and work in a team oriented environment.
