The Engine Lab Instrumentation Technician is an integral part of the vehicle development process. Youwill use cutting edge technology to help create the vehicles of tomorrow.
BRIEF OUTLINEOF SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Instrumentation Technician will be working in anengine testing facility in Dearborn.
This facility applies numerous testingmethods and data acquisition software to support and conduct a variety ofEngine, Powertrain, and Durability Tests.
Duties and Responsibities Include:
Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of Special test components(accelerometers, Kulite transducers, strain gages, Vishay AMPs, thermocouplesoldering).
Building electrical cables,repairing electrical connectors, and modifying electrical breakout boxes. Calibrating and maintaining testinginstrumentation.
Supporting developmentand durability special testing and troubleshooting in an engine dynamometerfacility.
Interface with Technologists,Product Engineers, and Supervisors on updates/new test procedures, equipmentand methods.
Verify the calibration andmaintenance of test equipment and test systems.
Hook up instrumentation, diagnose / troubleshoot problems, conducttests, change out components if necessary, and remove instrumentation asneeded.
Testing equipment includesEmission benches, fuel flow meters, smoke meters, pressure transducers, torquemeters, accelerometers, and thermocouples.

Qualifications
MINIMUMEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND /OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
HighSchool Diploma required with two (2) years of related experience or vocationaltraining.
Basicbackground in engine electronics troubleshooting, Kulite pressure transducerexperience, Thermocouple soldering experience, knowledge of Vishay AMPs, accelerometerexperience, strain gage, and ability to read schematics/wiring diagrams a must.Understanding how DMM's, O-Scopes, and other electronic testing devices areused. Good interpersonal, computer, oraland written skill.
Desired:
Associate Degree or equivalent in automotivetechnology or electronic related field. Experience in engines/powertraindynamometer testing or other similar testing techniques preferred. Understanding of instrumentation used in anautomotive test environment, such as pressure transducers, thermocouples,accelerometers, etc. are highly preferred. Horiba exhaust analyzer experience or other analyzer experiencepreferred.

Workhours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regularattendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regularattendance are necessary. Must have flexibility of work days to cover weekendtesting requirements.
