Responsibilities
The Technology/Controls Engineer will lead in identification, selection and integration of intelligent/Smart Building Automation Systems (automatic temperature control, access control, lighting and energy management). Candidate will work in a team environment to provide, revise or extend building management mechanical systems (HVAC) for new construction and/or renovation of industrial, commercial or institutional structures as requested by the client.
Essential Job Functions:
Review and/or establish project scope, budget, necessary constraints and design approach with project manager and/or client
Proper communication skills to be involved in design team / owner meetings and communicate directly as the owner's representative
Develop and maintain knowledge leadership in areas of IoT devices, sensors, controls and software apps in the SMART Building environment
Prepare feasibility studies and project cost estimates
Maintain working knowledge of latest building codes and standards used in the industry
Initiate and monitor system upgrades in commercial/manufacturing facilities for building management systems (e.g. compressors, chillers)
Work with IT infrastructure on building system upgrades
Perform and/or review calculations and energy models; formulate design of building management systems including HVAC and IT
Create engineering documents using computer aided design (CAD) technology utilizing Revit and AutoCAD
Edit or draft project specifications
Review drawings for omissions, errors, interferences, overall quality, content accuracy, compliance with standards and codes
Maintain organized project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
Prepare project file updates, transmittals, letters, reports, requests for reproduction services
Assist with checking, standards review, and maintenance of master specifications
Performs related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Employment Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related technology field, required
Professional Registration preferred
Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) professional certification preferred
LEED AP BD+C accreditation preferred

Skills/Competencies:
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
Proficiency with Tridium Niagara & Modbus, BACnet
Must have valid passport. Could be asked to travel internationally, as well as domestically, up to 10% of the time.
