The Central Service department plays a very important role in the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of Central Service provided instrumentation and supplies, as required by Surgical Services and the Nursing/Ancillary Units.
The Central Service Technician is responsible for supply receipt and distribution of supplies, as well as placing sterile instrumentation in sterile storage area.
Minimum Education/Training: High School graduate or equivalent and a Graduate of a Central Service Technician program or a Surgical Technologist program.
Registration/Certification or License Required: Central Service Technician Certification
Preferred Experience: Central service or surgical experience preferred:
Physical Requirements: Occasional sitting, standing and walking. Occasional twisting, reaching and squatting. Occasional tasting or smelling. Frequent bending. Frequent keyboard use. Continuous talking or hearing.
Other Requirements: Proficient in verbal and written English. Manual dexterity, auditory, visual and memory skills. Must perform tasks quickly and be adept at handling instruments. Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
