Job Description:
Serve Electric is hiring for a Industrial PLC/Controls Electrical Engineer. A successful candidate for this role must be able to:
Work in manufacturing environments, not just behind a desk
Troubleshoot an electrical issue from start to finish without the use of schematics or clear information from the operator or customer
Communicate clearly with the customer, service manager, and other team members
Work well with other team members
Core Responsibilities and day-to-day tasks:
The Controls Engineer is responsible for completing jobs relating to machine controls on-time, under budget, and to the satisfaction of customer needs
Responsible for working with multiple departments from concept through release phase, with accountability for project execution
Provide technical support of external and internal customers
Assist in the development of electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles and involvement in presentation of the solution to the customer
Help resolve operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases
Perform electrical hardware and software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems and create HMI screens
Must be able to set up Device net and Ethernet systems and set IP addresses
Monitor project workflow and support resources to ensure timely delivery of projects at or below the allotted budget
Analyze project requirements and perform technical design calculations including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls
Excellent customer communication, leadership and teamwork skills
As needed, travel to customer sites for installation and startup support of custom machinery and automation
Knowledge of presses and press automation is a big plus
Programming experience with:
RSLogix 5, 500 and 5000
Siemens Step 7 Allen-Bradley
Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent professional experience, BSEE preferred
BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering is desired
Minimum 3-years of controls experience with increasing responsibility and duties
Ability to create and read logic flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation testing, and startup.
Must be customer-oriented and maintain excellent relationships with customers
Strong knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communication systems
Exceptional communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross functional teams
Proficient with MS Office applications
Proficient with PLC platforms, including but not limited to, Allen Bradley, Siemens, RS Logix5000, and Legacy platforms
Technical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment and machinery
Ability to work 50 hours per week
