This position performs a variety of functions necessary to support the commercial loan origination process and ongoing servicing of the commercial lending portfolio. The individual will work with lenders, members, and other departments assuring consistent communications in a professional, timely manner. This position will work closely with other Commercial Lending team members to ensure that all of the commercial lending steps flow effectively and efficiently to maintain a focus on the member. As a Commercial Lending Specialist, you will have opportunities to:

May assist with opening, maintaining, and servicing commercial deposit accounts and commercial loans. Responsible for assisting lender with clearing all loan conditions and requirements as set by the commercial loan guidelines and per the loan approval process. This includes helping the lender close loan with proper loan documents.
Responsible for ordering due diligence or documentation related items, such as UCC searches, flood determinations and any necessary borrower corporate documents (i.e. By-laws, Operating agreements, etc.)
Serves as a secondary point of contact to assist commercial members.
Responsible for conducting commercial transactions per member request. Processes loan payments, resolve payment issues, process wire requests while working with other credit union departments to assist with these member requests. Including disbursements on construction and development loans.
Manages the renewal letter process in order for members to receive required information in a timely manner.
Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with Credit Union personal and
management. This includes coordinating activities with branches or other departments, coordinating and scheduling loan closings and keeping management informed of area activities and any significant issues or problems.
Researches and assists with a variety of projects as needed which may include preparing a variety of records or reports.
Assists with annual reviews on all existing commercial loan accounts and is responsible for obtaining required on-going information. Keeps records of reviews and electronic documentation of deficiencies. This includes working with third party vendors such as title, environmental, appraisal companies and borrowers to order services and resolve potential issues.
Maintains, organizes and audits commercial files which includes tracking insurance and contacting member and/or insurance company to secure proper proof of insurance.
Responsible for understanding the commercial loan concepts, policies and procedures and assisting employees and/or members with inquiries regarding commercial loans. Works with the Commercial Lending Manager to continuously drive progress for commercial loans and add financial value for our members.
Physical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work environment with moderate noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision. Must work effectively as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.

Experience
Three years to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education
A high school degree or equivalent.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.
Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.
