SUMMARY
The Benefits Manager is responsible for the administration of Team Member benefits in all property operations. This position provides special guidance and assistance on various benefit plans. The Benefits Manager surveys the industry and/or community to determine the Property's competitive position in Team Member benefits. This position develops, recommends and installs approved, new or modified plans and Team Member benefits policies and supervises administration of existing plans. This position develops cost control procedures to assure maximum coverage at the least possible cost to the property and its Team Members.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or relevant field required.
• Five (5) plus years' experience in benefits administration required.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Work and Outlook applications is required.
• Must possess a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem solve effectively in order to complete projects within deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of all Team Member accounts and records
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to obtain a Key License from the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for practicing, supporting and promoting Gun Lake Casino's Unsurpassed Service standards at all times.
• Manage the Benefits team and responsible for the development, performance management and hiring of Team Member(s) within the department.
• Responsible for the overall administration of Team Member benefits programs such as 401K plans; medical, dental, vision plans; temporary disability programs and wellness programs.
• Responsible for the overall administration of tribal workers benefits (work comp) and leave of absence programs.
• Evaluate and compare existing company benefits with those of other employers through various benchmarking techniques.
• Plan, develop and/or participate in area and industry surveys. Analyze results of benchmarking and develop specific recommendations for review by management.
• Develop specifications for new plans or modify existing plans to maintain the property's competitive position in labor market. Obtain uniform benefits package for all property locations, where possible.
• Oversee benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, reconciling and approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, and cash flow.
• Recommend classes of eligible Team Members for new or modified plans. Develop census data and solicit insurance companies for quotations. Evaluates quotation and makes recommendations to management. Develop company cost information for new plans and make premium cost share recommendations to management.
• Design, develop and create training materials for orientation (Celebration), leadership training and property communications.
• Install approved new plans or changes to existing plans by preparing announcement materials, plan summary documents and other media for communicating plans to Team Members. Conduct Team Member meetings and arrange for enrollment. Advise and counsel management and Team Members on existing benefits.
• Prepare and execute, with legal consultation, benefits documentation, such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instruct insurance carriers, trustees and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefits programs.
• Ensure prompt and accurate compliance.
• Ensure company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Affordable Care Act. Supervise preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners and other regulatory agencies. Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and report necessary or suggested changes to management. Coordinate company benefits with government-sponsored programs.
• Develop benefits information and statistical and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers and management.
• Manage the development and implementation of the internal Wellness Program to improve Team Member health, engagement and productivity.
• Responsible for overall administration of property 401K plan, to include identifying and resolving challenges as they arise.
• Handle benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Maintain contact in person and by phone or mail, with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, employees and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all Team Members.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish
letters, numbers and symbols.
• Ability to sit, walk and stand for the duration of the shift.
• Manual dexterity to operate job related equipment.
WORK CONDITIONS
Work is typically in an office environment. Tasks may be performed from a sitting or non-sitting position in a confined area. Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling and grasping. These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned area. Constant contact with fellow Team Member and Guests.
