Job Description
This position serves the Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals (BHSCA) as the Board Clerk in order to maintain the BHSCA's files and docket system, coordinates the scheduling of board meetings and board-ordered legal proceedings. This position will provide a variety of legal administrative support functions including scheduling pre-hearing conferences, preparing, proofreading, and formatting legal documents, forms, and correspondence; answering the phone, contacting parties, attorneys, or courts; production of records, and routine copying, scanning, filing, and data entry. This position will also serve in a supplemental or back-up capacity to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) Appeals Division Secretary. As back-up to the MIOSHA Appeals Division Secretary, this position will provide a variety of administrative support duties for the MIOSHA Appeals Division as needed, including typing letters, forms, memos, settlement agreements, motions, answering the phone; routine copying and filing.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Legal Secretary 7
Two years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work, including one year equivalent to 6-level administrative support experience.
Legal Secretary E8
Three years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work, including one year involving legal secretarial practices equivalent to a Legal Secretary 7.
Some positions may require stenographic skills.
