First of three levels of Technical Engineer. Participates in all phases of AV engineering and production, and production development, testing and support. Focus on developing deep expertise in one more areas of technology, specifically AV hardware, console interfaces and software development. This position will operate with guidance, when needed, from more experienced levels of Technical Engineers and supervision. This position may support LCE or other Ilitch companies, including sports and event venues,
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in the design, development, and support of technical projects through to completion according to project standards. May support one or more of the following with functions of moderate complexity:
AV production support and guidance
Project estimation and planning
Perform technical function in the software and hardware development process
Development of alternative processes or areas of improvement
Inspection and maintenance for projectors, TV's and hubs
Develop hardware, management console configurations or needed software, while following corporate standards for, the design, development, testing, and support of moderately complex systems, and applications.
Ability to read and interpret A/V wiring diagrams.
Act as the primary/secondary point of contact. Raise any equipment or malfunctions outside of our capacity to resolve issues related to warranty or otherwise. Work with vendors or management to resolve outstanding issues.
Perform regular health checks on all AV equipment throughout the main buildings and other edge offices as needed
Support Quality Assurance (QA) in the development of integration test plans, test conditions, and expected test results. Work with assistance of senior engineers to develop software following corporate standards for the design, testing and support of hardware and software.
Collaborate with Business Analysts to understand requests or business unit initiatives and discuss alternatives.
Foster professional relationships with all colleagues by listening, understanding and responding to their needs. Promote positive customer service attitude among peers.Provide guidance and support to engineers and analysts with less experience;
Resolves system issues and responds to suggestions for improvements.
Provide support for production applications including on-call after hours support on a rotational basis. Develop and maintain support documentation.
Supplemental Job Responsibilities:
- Periodically acts as a Help Desk Engineer, as needed.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a formal education.
Minimum of four (4) years of programming experience and strong knowledge of one or more of the following technologies:
Cisco & Microsoft hub
Windows Operating system & Microsoft applications
Creston control system and YCD digital signage
Mersive Solstice Pod
Absen video wall
Noldus, R&D.QA software
Understanding of modern software architecture concepts such as MVC, SOA, SOAP, REST, and cloud/cloud hybrid models.
Evidence of strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to develop solutions and alternatives that meet business goals.
Strong relationship building skills and ability to collaborate with other Enterprise Technology staff and business units.
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen and communicate technical information to a wide variety of technical and non-technical clients.
Evidence of a self-motivated, curious and creative approach to technology with a passionate embrace of technology and demonstrate experience in a fast-paced workplace and ability to be flexible and responsive.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Programming experience in any of the following technologies:
network diagrams
active directory
group policy deployment
server management and configuration
Experience in a formal Software Development Life Cycle.
Working Conditions:
AV needs span from GRC's conference rooms, the terrace meeting hall, QA lab/kitchen, mini theatre/commercial viewing location, and huddle rooms.
This position will require working non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Works in a normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust and the like.
Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers.
Some travel including travel to restaurant locations and trade shows. This position requires the ability to adhere to the LCE Travel policy.
