Hours per pay period: 72
Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Position Summary:
Under
the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, contributes to the delivery of
patient-centered care through: Performance of selected day-to-day patient care
activities. Maintenance of an
environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient
well-being. Demonstrates
unit/area-designated competencies.
Interacts with patients considering their developmental, age-specific,
and cultural spiritual preferences.
Essential Functions andResponsibilities:
Alwaysintroduce self and explains patient care role.
Performcompetency routine oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry.
Receivesreport from appropriate RN. Performs specific patient care interventions asdelegated by the RN in an effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
Assistsin establishing and maintains a patient care environment that is clean, safe,and conducive to patient/family well being.
Preparepatient room for arrival, assists in transfers and or discharge of patients.
Qualifications
Required:
HighSchool Diploma or GED
Formaleducation or training in addition toHigh School Diploma or GED
BLS card from AHA required before start date (validat least 60 days beyond start date)
Mustpossess the skills and abilities to perform as a Patient Care Associate asdemonstrated by one or more of the following:
Trainingand Experience: Must meet one criterion from list 1 (Training) and onecriterion from list 2 (Experience) below:
Training:
Completionof an LPN program
Completionof a formal Nursing Assistant Educational Course
Completionof a formal EMT Educational Course
Experience:
Threemonths experience as a Patient Care Associate (PCA), Patient Care Tech (PCT)and/or Nurse Assistant or other related patient care experience
Currentlyenrolled nursing student with completion of 2 direct patient care clinicalcourses
Sixmonths of other healthcare experience
OR one of the following requirements:
Currentlyenrolled in an accredited RN program and successful completion of NursingFundamentals course
Completionof EMT Training with current State of MI EMT license
Twoor more years of recent experience (within last five years) in a Patient CareAssociate/Nurse Assistant role
Studentswho have completed a 2-year High School Health Careers program with a letterverifying completion of coursework and practical/hands-on experience/traininghave been met
McLarenMacomb employees in the role of Nurse Assistant prior to December 10, 2013 (therevision of the Patient Care Associate role).
