Description
Under general supervision, performs the more difficult and complex drafting work involved in the preparation of engineering drawings, maps, graphs and other pictorial representations.
Examples of Duties
Prepares or modifies elementary design and layouts of limited scope, based on engineering principles and practices gained from experience and close association with an engineering activity.
Assists with the training and oversight of less experienced drafting technicians engaged in the preparation of preliminary or detailed engineering drawings, maps, charts, graphs or other drawings used for illustrative presentation of data.
Drafts preliminary or detailed designs or drawings utilizing computer assisted drafting and design (CADD) equipment, or freehand.
Uses digitizer board to prepare or modify digital maps of infrastructure, property and engineering designs.
Uses digital plotting equipment to produce maps, charts and drawings.
Assists with tasks related to CADD network administration.
Searches reference materials and office records for information pertinent to assignments.
Computes statistical measures.
Reproduces blueprints and drawings.
Issues assignments and reviews work in progress and upon completion to ensure work standards are followed.
Advises on views, suitability and neatness of drawings.
Monitors, evaluates, and reports on progress of employees.
Provides on the job training in the use of CADD hardware and software.
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation or GED with coursework in drafting and preferably completion of two years of advanced training in drafting.
Three years of experience in drafting and related work.
Valid State of Michigan Operator (Driver) License.

City employees accrue sick leave based on the number of regular hours worked. Full time employees earn ninety-six (96) hours of sick leave per year. You may carry over your unused sick leave. Effective July 7, 2012 maximum accumulation is 300 hours.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
• Completion of thirty (30) years of service; - At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or - At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service. (In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply); • An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service; • Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
