Qualifications
The Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) Science Engineer is responsible for the advanced design and development, as well as testing of, acoustic packages for vehicle programs. The selected candidate will determine necessary acoustic package content through benchmarking, working with CAE teams, calculation, etc., define functional requirements of individual acoustic package components, then lead a cross-functional team in design and development of the comprehensive acoustic package. The selected candidate will plan, conduct, and complete appropriate NVH testing. The NVH Science Engineer will perform data processing and analysis to establish issue root cause, develop resolution enablers, and recommend solutions for vehicle and component NVH issues.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program
5 years of NVH vehicle and component testing experience, including:
Testing of vehicle acoustic packages
Working knowledge of materials used in acoustic packages and their acoustic properties
Internal combustion engines and hybrid-electric powertrains
Powertrain mounts, air induction, and exhaust systems
Wind noise and road noise Strong fundamentals of automotive vehicle-level and component NVH
Demonstrated capabilities in solving NVH problems and recommending feasible solutions
Demonstrated capability in working with design groups and suppliers to identify solutions
Proficiency in utilizing standard NVH test equipment and transducers with digital signal processing
Demonstrated capability in effectively using LMS Test.Lab and/or Head Acoustics Artemis for data acquisition and post-processing
Strong planning/organization and communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation formats
Must be capable of performing duties with limited supervision and provide project leadership to NVH technicians and mechanics
Strong interpersonal skills with people at various levels, including management, NVH technicians, and mechanics
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program
