Licensed Practical Nurse: This position is full time requiring flexibility and the expectation that the candidate will rotate shifts (days, evenings, nights). Must also have your own vehicle and be willing to commute between other clinical research sites within a 60-mile radius of the main campus unit.
The Michigan Clinical Research Unit (MCRU) part of the Medical School Office of Research Clinical Trials Support Office; is seeking an experienced, highly energetic candidate to provide clinical research nursing support in accordance with the institutional and health center guidelines for adult and pediatric research participants. Reports directly to the Administrative Manager and MCRU Leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Provides clinical research nursing support in accordance with the institutional and health center guidelines for adult and pediatric research participants.
- Following strict adherence to protocol guidelines, completes specified tasks related to time sensitive blood draws, vital signs, IV’s, infusions etc.
- Supports lab specimen processing and shipping related to protocol specific requirements.
- Provides direct participant care including; assisting with procedures and administering tests, IVs,
- EKGs, monitoring infusions, participant instruction, participant flow, documentation, regulatory compliance, preparing exam rooms and ordering and stocking supplies.
- Participates in process improvement activities, including the processes associated with protocol implementation.
- Partners with other members of the MCRU Teams to support the research functions of all the MCRU
- performance sites. Assist in day-to-day clinic operations.
- Documents in electronic medical record all services provided and additional information as needed.
- Performs miscellaneous office and data entry functions related to research, assist in monitoring and recovering participants post research and preparing paperwork for the next day’s research participants.

- Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge related to tests and procedures.
- Demonstrated record of excellent attendance.
- Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated professionalism documented from prior references .
- Knowledge of UMHS Policies and Procedures.
- Graduation from an approved School of Licensed Practical Nursing.
- Current licensure to practice as a LPN in the State of Michigan.
- Completion of a pharmacology course in an accredited program.
- Minimum two (2)year experience with phlebotomy and IV skills in a prior position
NOTE: In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.
- Previous experience with U of M software systems such as Mi-Chart and Cadence, Outlook (email) preferred.
- Previous experience in a Research Environment preferred.
