Our Operations Teams are responsible for all aspects of manufacturing high quality products in a timely manner to delight our customers. As a Technical Machine Operator, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of complex equipment or specific automated machines and tools, depending on department processes. You will produce a high quality product delivered in a timely manner to satisfy customers. You'll solve problems with the assistance of other team members and seek continuous improvement. All of your activities will be completed with a high regard for the safety of others and yourself. You may also serve as an area trainer on specific equipment and/or processes and assist in the development of departmental and functional guidelines.

Calculate and derive dimensional information from all types of dimensional drawings.
Commit to meeting overtime requirements.
Complete required paperwork correctly to ensure record accuracy.
Conduct activities to set up, load, operate, diagnose, debug, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
Consistently perform to and assist in developing Standard Work Instructions at each process and request changes when needed.
Consistently perform, know, and understand SPC/Quality checks by utilizing measuring tools and devices and reacting to specification data.
Demonstrate flexibility to meet team, department, and plant goals.
Know and practice quality requirements according to specified quality criteria.
Know, practice, teach, and assist in developing corporate, plant, and department safety guidelines. You will also maintain a clean, safe working environment according to 5S principles.
Lead and participate in Herman Miller Performance System (HMPS) improvement activities within your current department or other departments.
Perform 100 percent of the machinery jobs in the department at the required rate (cycle time), depending on assignment.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Perform multiple activities using various processes and equipment, routinely or when called upon, according to department needs.
Read, understand, and interpret routings, drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs) so that parts are produced to quality expectations.
Rotate through department work stations based on business need.
Train others and assist in developing training tools as needed.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED), or work experience which demonstrates performance competency.
A minimum of one year of experience with operating machinery in a manufacturing environment.
A competency in basic math skills, such as adding and subtracting. Additional math skills may be required depending on department processes such as GDT (geometric dimensional tolerances).
The ability to use required measuring tools and devices such as calipers, gauges, tape measures, etc.
The ability to develop, perform, and teach preventative and proactive technical maintenance.
The ability to read, understand, communicate, and interpret written and verbal instructions, work documentation, policies, practices, etc., in the English language.
The ability to bend, twist, and stand for periods up to 10-12 hours.
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
The ability to teach and read drawings.
Knowledge in how to access and use information system databases.
The ability to work cooperatively within the team and mentor and influence teaching behavior with members of other teams to meet goals.
A demonstrated commitment to team success through reliable attendance.
The ability to identify, teach, and lead others in a continually changing environment.
The ability to satisfactorily complete all required job training.
The flexibility to work assignments and possible extra hours as business needs require.
