As the Human Resource Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating all events, volunteerism and special programs in support of the Company's strategic recognition and retention objectives. In addition, this position may provide back-up reception and administrative support for the department. To be successful in this position, you will need to have a high level of flexibility, be a team player and demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot/solve problems quickly and effectively.
Essential Job Functions
1. Administers human resources policies and procedures that cover one or more functional areas:
Employee Events & Volunteerism:
•Leads the coordination of special events and recognition programs to positively impact retention efforts for the Company. Serves as the point of contact for event-related vendors and contracts, schedules, committees, marketing materials, logistics, budgets, etc.
•Coordinates all aspects of the company's Years of Service program, including making recommendations regarding gifts and vendors, coordinating recognition events and generating communication to team members and management.
•Partners with the internal philanthropy committee to lead volunteerism and community outreach efforts for the Company. Chairs the Soaring to Serve committee and coordinates philanthropic events. Serves as the Company's United Way liaison. Coordinates the Karen K. Duncan Scholarship Program.
•Continually evaluates assigned programs to ensure they support the company's strategic objectives by researching what's new in the industry, developing new and creative initiatives and working with department managers to understand recognition and retention needs.
Recruitment:
•Administers the company's applicant tracking system; duties include working with hiring managers requisition creation, candidate management, scheduling interviews, preparing offer letters, etc.
•Creates and distributes vacancy posting, this includes internal and external distribution (i.e. bulletin boards, Intranet, state job banks, etc.), placing ads as needed, sending to external contacts, etc.
•Coordinates onboarding for new team members, this may include processing new hire paperwork, updating the HRIS and AS400 and assisting with relocation expense reports, etc.
Substance Abuse Program:
•Administers the company's substance abuse program in compliance with FAA and company-directed initiatives and programs.
•Ensures proper DOT and Non-DOT classification of team members, coordinates team member testing with collectors, maintains substance abuse records, prepares and monitors follow-up testing schedules, and prepares annual reports.
•Communicates with company's EAP, team members and managers regarding positive test results and the requirements and activities following a positive test. Prepares and follows-up on letters for new team members' previous drug and alcohol testing records.
2. Provides back-up reception for team members, visitors and phone calls for the Human Resources department. Responds to inquiries by authorized individuals for team member information. Provides administrative support to HR team for miscellaneous activities and special projects.
3. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience
•Associates degree in Business or related field or equivalent required
•Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Project, etc.) required
•Minimum two years previous relevant work experience preferred
