Schedule: This position works M-F from 8am-5pm but does require a 2nd shift and Saturday rotation every 4-6 weeks.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Radiographer performs a variety of technical tasks involved in operating radiographic equipment and taking radiographs of designated portions of the body utilizing physician protocols and the Orthopaedic condition.
SUPERVISION: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs the described duties in the primary work area and demonstrate competency in taking appropriate x-rays with good quality, based on the orthopaedic condition and physician protocols.
Operates, maintains, calibrates and adjusts specialized equipment, including C-Arm
Explain x-ray procedures to patients; position patients for each anatomical view specified, immobilizing and protecting patient as required.
Evaluate quality to ensure that accurate image is captured and filed.
Maintain assigned work area and radiography rooms in clean and orderly condition.
Ensures that there is an adequate supply of materials available. Keep the rooms stocked with supplies needed for patient care. Notify appropriate personnel when more supplies are needed.
Review charts prior to appointments – obtain all films, reports or records necessary for patient visits, document through the electronic record specific diagnosis and what x-rays are needed at time of office visit.
When assigned, review patient’s chart prior to surgery – obtains all images for the patient prior to surgery and have available for the physician.
Maintain the imaging library – document and return hardcopy films to appropriate office or facility. Maintain electronic and physical record keeping systems. Copy and provide CDs of patient images as requested.
Communicate with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Act as a patient / family advocate.
Maintain patient dignity and privacy under HIPAA guidelines.
Review the PAC system to ensure that patient records are accurately recorded.
Performs other duties or functions as assigned.
REQUIRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience:
Completion of an approved Radiography program and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry required.
CPR certification is required.
