The On-Board Diagnostics Regulatory Documentation Specialist will be required to assemble and coordinate emission certification and fuel economy testing for data submission to the agencies to support certification. The Engineer will validate emission and fuel economy test and then incorporate into government databases as part of official compliance documentation and track the control testing of certification vehicles adequate for agency review/audits. The selected candidate will interact with engine calibration community and other certification groups to ensure certification protocol compliance and provide guidance for new programs.
Additional job responsibilities include but not limited to:
•Producing all certification documentation required by the California Air Resources Board, the EPA, Europe and all other counties that require OBD certification documentation
•Producing a modified version of the regulated certification documentation for every application for the FCA service organization, the documentation will cover all gasoline, diesel, multi-fueled and hybrid electric vehicles
•Supporting those conducting the actual testing to resolve any observed issues with the appropriate software personnel
•Working with the advance OBD groups and the production OBD calibration groups to ensure compliant production implementation
•Summarizing results of all testing for every application prior to production launch
•Instructing and guiding others as appropriate in our FCA OBD world relative to basic monitoring requirements to be followed for compliant vehicles
The defined tasks and responsibilities will be shared by several engineers in order to cover the complete scope of this position.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Computer Engineering or equivalent from an accredited program
•On-board diagnostics and engine control software knowledge
•Some experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Visio, Project and Access
•Must have above average written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team
•Capable of coordinating activities with numerous internal and external groups
•Highly motivated, self-starter
Preferred Qualifications:
•Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Systems or Computer Engineering from an accredited university
•Three years of automotive engineering experience in gasoline, hybrid or diesel controls or on-board diagnostics
•Experience using MATLAB/SIMULINK/C++
•Experienced in database applications (e.g. Microsoft Access database, Oracle)
•Background and process knowledge of emission certification and fuel economy testing is helpful
•Product line familiarity
•Emission testing working knowledge
•Regulatory experience
•Strong computer skills
•Self-motivated, adaptable and learns what is needed to address certification challenges
•Able to change in order to adapt to new requirements / systems
•Good communication skills as liaison with agencies and other groups
•Ability to interpret government requirements from China
