In this position you will be engaged with supplier partners that are forming the future of the automotive industry.
In your role as a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will partner and lead suppliers in the Industrialization of manufacturing processes for new technology parts and systems and guide and lead your supplier partners to a successful execution of process and performance to achieve flawless launches.
The new technologies that are being integrated into our vehicle architectures will propel FCA to the forefront of “GREEN VEHICLE PROPULSION”.
The Supplier Operations Engineer (SOE) is responsible for managing different supplier locations and parts to ensure high quality products are produced and transported to FCA’s assembly and powertrain plants. The SOE will provide on-site launch support at suppliers’ facilities to ensure launch readiness as required, leading up to and including program launch. They will also be responsible for managing post launch continuous improvement activities and provide on-site support at FCA assembly and powertrain plants as required. The SOE will be responsible for working cross functionally with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and supply chain in order to ensure proper designs, suppliers, and manufacturing processes are selected. The SOE is also responsible for conducting supplier assessments, managing supplier industrialization and supplier source selection. Components may include items such as: castings, gears and complex mechanical assemblies (gear boxes and e-Drive systems)
Within our Supplier Operations Engineering role, we ask that our engineers drive change within both FCA manufacturing plants and component supplier’s plants to resolve complex issues. It is the Engineer’s responsibility to ensure component suppliers’ processes are robust and capable to stay on track and manage key component quality milestones. Overall, the Engineer will lead all problem-solving activities with internal and external organizations, manage warranty with their suppliers, and ensure best practices/lessons learned are applied across the several different vehicle programs.
Job responsibilities for a Supplier Operations Engineer include but not limited to:
•Perform supplier quality systems and process audits and lead supplier improvement/development programs
•Establish close relationships with assigned suppliers and actively drive continuous improvement activities
•Initiate and follow-up on corrective actions and verify effectiveness on-site
•Participation in launch teams, APQP/PPAP activities for purchased components within the supplier quality group to ensure success launch and continued delivery of quality components to FCA vehicle and powertrain plants
•Assist in educating suppliers on FCA systems and requirements
•Lead and support supplier APQP and PPAP activities to ensure all deliverables are being fulfilled
•Work with engineering and supplier organizations to alleviate discrepancies in product specifications and evaluate cost reduction opportunities

Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program
•5+ years of work experience in supplier quality, quality, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field
•Ability to travel up to 40% globally
•Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software/Google Suite
•Proficient in GD&T and high precision measurement system
•Proficiency in working with casting, forging, metal forming/process and complex mechanical assemblies
•Proficient in management of quality controls for castings, forgings, gear boxes, eAxles and eDrive systems
•Knowledge about CAM and simulation castings and forging including mold flow and solidification analysis
•Knowledge of gear manufacturing process such as forging, broaching, honing, etc.
•Proficient casting and forging quality controls such as: mechanical property testing, X-ray analysis, leak testing, metallurgical analysis, mass spectroscopy and other widely accepted techniques
•Proficient process knowledge of sand casting, low-pressure die casting, high-pressure die-casting and forging
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s degree in Engineering or a Master of Business Administration
•Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Biomedical/Biomechanical/Bioengineering, Chemical, Materials, Metallurgical, or Mechatronics may also be considered
•Green Belt or Black Belt skills (Red X/Shainin)
•Six Sigma Black Belt
•Creative problem solving ability and a results orientation
•Comfortable with complex technical analysis
