Job Description
Title: High Voltage Design Release Engineer II
Position Focus:
Customer interface lead for design development, change control, technical issue resolution and program engineering deliverables. Develop continuous design improvement proposals. Develop 3D routing and packaging supporting device locations, inline connections and overall robust wire bundle designs. Coordination work with System Engineering to a line with system schematics. Support wire harness and customer vehicle assembly builds from initial prototype through full production launch.
Responsibilities:
Routing, Packaging, Retention and Protection
•Creation of 2D wire harness drawings based on customer inputs (3D data, Engineering Changes, red-marks, etc.)
•Coordinate 3D design to package components and wire harnesses into vehicles environment, including splice locations at the harness level.
•Define customer-directed components.
•Define retention and covering components (convolute, tape, etc.) to be used on the wire harness
•Coordinate New Component Requests and interface with Advanced Purchasing, Provisional Component Engineering design, development and approval of new-tooled components.
•Support customer in component selection.
•Support Design reviews and Design for Manufacturing analysis.
•Support analysis of circuitry and sub-systems.
Customer Change Control
•Maintain customer part release system.
•Overview of customer engineering change documents for completeness and accuracy.
•Lead customer interface on content and status of the design, design changes, and build requirements.
•Provide customer responses for cost studies.
•Track engineering issues and change management.
•Work with customer to release end item components (screws, standard parts, etc.) into the customer system.
Customer and Internal Design Requirements
•Ensure design meets customer and internal requirements
•Create and submit print markups for proposed design changes and costing activities.
•Coordinate print markups for Short Term Actions.
•Review DFA (Design for Vehicle Assembly), and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) documents for design adherence.
•Collaborate with DVP&R (Design Verification Process & Report) team to validate customer requirements.
•Develop and maintain program-specific, harness DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
•Evaluate customer information as applied to the product/project for completeness and accuracy.
•Initiate customer plant trials, document trial results and obtain customer sign-off.
Engineering Customer Interface
•Lead customer interface for technical issues and program engineering deliverables.
•Support customer change control meetings and design reviews (e.g., technical design review, digital buck review, system compatibility review, etc.).
•Liaison for internal manufacturing items with customer to support DFM (Design for Manufacturing) guidelines.
•Support vehicle builds and launches at customer pilot and assembly plants.
Qualifications:
Required:
•5+ years of experience in low or high voltage wire harness design engineering.
•Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
•Experience with Capital XC 2D design.
•Ability to Work as Part of Cross Functional Team.
•Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
•Ability and Willingness to Travel.

•Design Validation Experience
•3D Design Experience
•Tolerance Control Experience
•Ford, GM, FCA or Nissan supplier experience preferred.
