The Electrified Propulsion System Simulation Engineer is responsible for leading the evaluation of fuel economy, acceleration performance, capability (e.g. trailer tow) and drivability for new electrified powertrains and vehicles using computer modeling techniques and test data analysis. The Simulation Engineer analyzes architectures and concepts to achieve functional requirements and creates models to analyze the performance of these concepts relative to requirements. The Simulation Engineer is responsible for the analysis activities including physics analysis using first principals, development of detailed models, simulation using these models, analysis of the simulation results and conclusions from the simulation. The Simulation Engineer is responsible for communication of the results in oral presentations and written reports to Chief Engineers, COEs, Component Engineers and others including Powertrain management.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
•1 year of related work experience
•Experience in modeling complex systems
•Good Excel skills
•Good communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
•Strong Matlab skills
•Familiarity with U.S., European and Chinese fuel consumption regulations and procedures
•Experience creating virtual models to simulate performance, fuel economy, drivability and capability as well as correlate these models to real world results
•Experience modeling of electrified powertrain components and/or systems
•Experience creating virtual models and correlate to real world results
•Knowledge of advanced powertrain technology
•Experience with hybrid technology
•Excellent communication and presentation skills
•Capable of quickly managing/processing large amounts of data
