Head of Purchasing

- Work directly with the regional management team to ensure MAHLE is an Employer of Choice by helping maintain an environment where employees are engaged in our business & know we value them.
- Strategic and operational responsibility for supply-base network with annual purchasing spend under management exceeding $650M and significant spend category complexity.
- Develop short- to long-term plans for procurement. Link strategic plans to Business Unit plan, and prioritize organization-wide efforts to implement strategies. Evaluate the implementation of programs to achieve plans.
- Collaborate with internal customer senior leaders to set strategic vision and goals and ensure execution of all procurement strategies are carried out.
- Drive supplier strategy to ensure productivity, cost optimization and quality.
- Manage a team that will evaluate, select and develop current or alternative suppliers.
- Assess and determine most economical sources of supply based upon competitive quoting protocols, dependability, quality and partnering capabilities.

- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Materials Management or Engineering, is required; CPM or CPIM, a plus.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in a multi-facility Tier 1 manufacturing environment, preferably with an international parent.
- Technical background with understanding of injection molding, die cast molding & related activities is strongly preferred.
- Must have proven track record of strategic, out-of-the box, cost-effective negotiation skills.
- Global or multi-national business experience strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of inspirational leadership & team development.
- Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of business problems.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a "peer" with Global Functions and Region.
- Must have a minimum of 5 or more years of facilitation/leadership experience in which several of the following abilities have been demonstrated: Building executive-level supplier relationships and responding to strategic business needs; Managing resources to meet goals across multiple products/programs; Leading multidisciplinary, high-performance teams.
