BASW Student Program Supports Coordinator
Position Summary
The MSU School of Social Work is dedicated to educating students for ethical, competent, responsive, and innovative social work practice, and to conducting and disseminating high quality research that improves the well-being of the most vulnerable in society. Our teaching, research, and outreach synergistically promote social justice, positive change, and solutions to the problems facing diverse individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. More than 650 students are enrolled in our CSWE-accredited BASW and MSW programs, and PhD program.
The School of Social Work invites applications for a Specialist Advisor, also known as the BASW Student Program Supports Coordinator, to join the School of Social Work team. Under the supervision of the BASW Program Director the Student Supports Coordinator will work in conjunction with the BASW program team to develop, implement and evaluate programs, coordinate opportunities for social work majors to advance and enhance their academic and professional development. The student supports coordinator will be responsible for social work student groups, student resource connections between the University, College of Social Science, and School, planning of student orientations and student activities, certificate programs, diversity projects, and experiential learning opportunities. The student supports coordinator will provide teaching assistance for large format social work courses, serve as part of the BASW Practice Sequence Committee, and assist the BASW Program Director with curriculum and program creation, implementation, and evaluation and administrative tasks as assigned. Participation in academic recruitment, outreach, admissions and University and School Activities will be required. Additional duties include\:
- Attend University and College meetings as required
- Participate as a member of the undergraduate office team and undergraduate admissions committee.
- Participate in School of Social Work events, such as faculty meetings, graduate recognition ceremony, etc.
- Serve on sequence committee(s) and other school committees as assigned.
- Represent the School of Social Work at college, university, and community events as directed.
- Teach as assigned by the Associate Director of Teaching and Instruction.
- Fulfill other duties as required.
Required Degree
Masters -Social Work
Minimum Requirements
- MSW with a macro focus,
- Experience working in college settings and with academic and student services.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in residence life, academic advising and student training.
