About this Opportunity
As a Herman Miller Performance System Manager 1, you'll coach and mentor the leadership of a manufacturing site, supplier, dealer, or office environment to successfully implement the Herman Miller Performance System (HMPS). You will evaluate functions, activities, and processes for the application of Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles of process improvement, and implement solutions. You'll act as a subject matter expert resource and provide ongoing support. You'll also coach local CI (Continuous Improvement) team members.

Actively participate as a member of the HMPS Team.
Coach management to develop a current/target condition for the site, supplier, or dealer (usually one supplier or one cell/line).
Connect professionally with external and internal customers to understand their learning needs.
Continue your personal HMPS learning.
Design and coordinate HMPS learning tours.
Develop learning opportunities for management to accomplish human development.
Develop your own current/target condition (with coaching) for the site/supplier/dealer, including a human development plan.
Evaluate new products or processes for appropriate HMPS application.
Provide hands-on coaching during the implementation of the plan.
Work with or develop a deep understanding of HMPS concepts and frameworks (subject matter expert) through hands-on application and personal learning.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Promote HMPS activities and results.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or another comparable Engineering degree, or related, equivalent experience.
A minimum of five years of experience in various Manufacturing, Operations, or Administrative roles, including supervision/management experience.
One to two years of successful experience with HMPS (Toyota Production System).
The ability to objectively observe, reflect, and conclude.
A demonstrated ability to coach individually or in small groups/teams, manage projects (multiple projects), and apply conflict management skills.
An understanding of change management principles and the application of conflict management skills.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
The ability to solve problems using the scientific method and coach others to solve problems.
The capability to learn about products and processes and a willingness to work effectively at hands-on levels.
The ability to travel out of town 0-50 percent of the time and locally approximately 10-50 percent of the time, depending on assignment.
A demonstrated ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently being used in the Herman Miller office environment.
The ability to fill out "A3" and reflect with a coach (A3 is a form showing current condition, target condition, and implementation strategy).
The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
