GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Billing Representative is responsible to review and process insurance claims quickly and accurately following payers guidelines. A key task of this position is to follow up by email or phone with insurance companies that have not remitted payment for services billed. This position works claims regarding outstanding balances in compliance with payor requirements. This team member provides a variety of record keeping, reconciliation and report production functions for the department. A Billing Rep is responsible for administering patient financial policies meeting productivity standards of the department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Completion of or enrollment in an accredited Billing and Coding program within six (6) months of hire
Knowledge and experience with medical terminology either through educational or work experiences.
Data entry skills, strong math, accounting/bookkeeping skills
Detail oriented
Excellent written and verbal communications and strong customer service skills required.
Preferred Qualifications :
Associate degree in healthcare billing and coding.
Prior experience in a healthcare revenue cycle position.
