Essential
Set up and operate Hunter Molding Machines to produce acceptable quality molds used in the production of gray iron castings.
Set cores, chaplets and other molding aids into molds.
Observe molds being made, making adjustments to machine as necessary, and make recommendations to improve mold quality and machine productivity. Check mold hardness using a dial indicator.
Inspect and ensure core quality and match for job being run per process instructions.
Change patterns and machine set ups as required.
Communicate with supervisor, mullor operator, melt, maintenance, or other departments regarding any problems affecting mold quality, production or safety.
Make minor adjustments or repairs to the machine and assist maintenance in other repairs as necessary.
Record production, delay, scrap, broken mold, broken core or other information in appropriate log or database.
