What you will do
This position works under general engineering supervision and follows established procedures. Work is periodically monitored by the engineering manager or engineer and reviewed upon completion for soundness of technical judgment, overall accuracy, and thoroughness in meeting project technical requirements. The engineering technician may occasionally work with little or no supervision for extended periods.
How you will do it
•Provides basic assistance to engineering in problem resolution. Identifies hardware and software functionality.
•Collect and analyze data.
•Maintain an orderly and clean work environment which includes carts, shop equipment and surrounding areas.
•Understand and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
•Works closely with Test Lab team to construct/assemble new equipment and instrumentation as required.
•Gain safety certifications (UL) or other approvals as required. Evaluate deviations to standards.
•Configuration, setup, and continual validation of expected operation of various temperature, pressure and measuring devices using established company procedures and schedules.
•Create written test reports which document test setups, test specimen type and configuration, test data, and any other technical information regarding the test being performed.
•Assist in developing, writing and maintaining any necessary or engineering test procedures.
•Troubleshoot nonconforming systems and components for manufacturing, service, test lab, etc.
•Communicate technical information in written, verbal, and graphical form in a clear and precise manner.
•Using hand tools, inspection and layout equipment including Dial Indicators, Micrometers, Coordinate Measuring Machine.
•Provide training to others in areas of technical and practical knowledge.
•Provide required logistics and documentation support for the above duties in accordance with established company procedures and policies.
•Will become proficient enough in above duties to assist and train other employees.
•Assist quality control effort with technical advice and up-to-date specifications on matters pertaining to delivered quality.
•Assist in creating engineering print packages and executing engineering change orders.
•Review blueprints for accuracy, review specifications and resolve design discrepancies.
•Other CAD-related tasks as determined by the department manager.
Qualifications
What we look for
•Associate's degree in engineering technology or related field and/or a combination of education and experience within the related field with 2 years of experience
•Experience in the HVAC industry and the design of flex duct and sheet metal products is preferred.
•Must be personable in dealing with customers and be comfortable with conducting training activities and some public speaking.
•Experience with CREO and AutoCAD (CAD) or other system.
•Test Lab experience a plus.
•Machine Shop experience
•Ability to use precision measuring tools and assembly equipment.
•Understanding and practical application of operational shop math, Microsoft Office Tools such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
•Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
•Ability to solve practical problems for the engineered systems.
