Essential Function of the Job
Under the direction of the Vice President for Finance, the part time Fiscal Specialist I performs a range of accounting and bookkeeping support functions for the anti-poverty programs administered by the Agency. This role is responsible for assisting with reports to funding sources, accounts payable processing, payroll data entry verification when necessary, and effectively applies their knowledge, accounting standards, relevant regulations and grant requirements to the tasks assigned.

- Prepare invoices to be entered into computer system including checking the extensions, verifying all required approvals have been obtained and coding the invoice to the correct general ledger account.
- Enter invoices into computer system, print required reports, and all filing related to accounts payable.
- Process checks to ensure invoices are paid by the due date.
- Assist in maintaining vendor documentation files for W-9’s and worker’s compensation certificates.
- Assist with the preparation of 1099's at year-end.
- Assist with preparing financial reports as required by Federal, State, and Local funding sources.
- Serves as backup for reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Check for contractor suspension or debarment on the “Excluded Parties List” system (Sams.gov).
- Assist in recording in-kind transactions on the general ledger and reviewing in-kind forms for reasonableness and compliance with grant requirements.
- Assist in payroll data entry verification when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements of Work
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently with figures.
- Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner.
- Ability to perform general accounting duties.
- Ability to efficiently use spreadsheet applications, word processing, and accounting software.
- Satisfactory review of Criminal History Check.
- Work cooperatively and professionally with managers, co-workers, clients, and the public.
- Maintain positive communication at all times.
- Must work well independently as well as in a team environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a standard office environment.
- Valid MI Driver’s license.
- Effective, January 31, 2022, all EightCAP staff must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Exemptions may be granted for individuals who request and receive an exemption from vaccination because of a:

Those who are granted an exemption for one of the reasons listed above are required to undergo weekly testing for current SARS COV-2 infection.
Aside from those who are granted exemptions for one of the reasons above, there is no testing option as an alternative to the vaccine requirement.
Required Minimum Training and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Accounting training, preferably an Associate’s Degree in accounting or related field.
- Two years related experience.
