The mission of the Drug Product Process Automation team is to provide highly effective automation, information collection and reporting, and manufacturing workflow solutions for the Pfizer Global Suppply (PGS) Kalamazoo facility. Major systems include an assortment of programmable logic controllers including Rockwell and Siemens, Systech and Cognex vision, and the Wonderware and Intellution SCADA and Batch recipe control systems.
Reporting to the Manager/Team Leader of the Drug Product Automation group the successful candidate will provide electro/mechanical/process engineering support to the manufacturing equipment (formulation, filling, lyophilzation, inspection and packaging) used to produce sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products. As an individual contributor, the manager automation engineer has the following responsibilities:
• design, develop, deploy and test our automated processes, systems and equipment.
• identify, design and implement new technologies.
• lead the specification and procurement of new highly automated manufacturing
equipment
• provide 24x7x365 support of our automation systems
• generate and execute cGMP verification protocols
• Be recognized as expert with site’s production and control system needs
• generate and develop standard operating procedures and system support
documentation
• clearly communicate progress and issues to peers
• Assist in training and mentoring site Automation Technicians, Automation
Engineers and other operations personnel
• Monitor and trend issues to identify and develop preventative solutions
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
0 - 4 years of experience
Technical:
Knowledge about Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC systems.
Knowledge about Wonderware SCADA systems, Aspen data historian, VMWare, electrical/mechanical devices and other software applications are a plus but not required.
The ability to perform or oversee the installation, commissioning, validation and maintenance of integrated control systems throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate should have background in cGMP regulations and the practical application of those regulations to control systems.
