Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
License(s) and Certification(s):
- Valid driver’s license to operate vehicles in Michigan
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification preferred
- Ability to obtain licensure as a Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan within 4 years.

- Desktop computer and laptop
- Calculator
- Miscellaneous office automation equipment, i.e. – fax, phone, copier, etc.
- Hand level and/or automatic level
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations relating to road design and construction.
- Knowledge of special assessment procedures and requirements.
- Knowledge of design and engineering techniques relating to road, drainage, bridge and culvert construction.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Soft Desk Civil Engineering and various other civil engineering programs for roadway and drainage design.
- Knowledge of contemporary office practices and procedures and basic office software products.
- Knowledge of construction processing programs such as MERL and Field Manager beneficial.
Skills:

- Skill in time management, multi-tasking.
Abilities:
- Ability to resolve complaints from the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, coworkers, consultants, public officials, other agencies and the general public.
- Ability to work with confidential information.
- Ability to interpret MDOT standard plans and specifications for construction.

- Sit for extended periods, keyboard, write, hear and speak.
- Stand and walk frequently for extended periods.
- Bend, kneel, stoop or climb.
- Lift up and carry up to 50 pounds over uneven terrain.
