The primary role of the Engineering Manager is to continuously improve production levels and quality through innovation in the design, repair and maintenance of equipment and process flow. This includes maximizing the time, equipment is available for operations and minimizes equipment down time. This position is responsible for making independent decisions in the areas of cost reduction, trouble shooting, equipment/upgrade installations and start-up duties. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, problem solver who is knowledgeable in hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems and has a strong work ethic to improve quality and production levels.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review all safety protocols and equipment standards to ensure all processes meet or exceed the our commitment to safety.
- Trouble shoots critical machine breakdowns through root cause analysis.
- Manages machine control code modification, creation and documentation.
- Drives implementation of new projects, manages the installation and startup of systems of new equipment.
- May be involved with the design, procurement and testing of new equipment and the development of procedures and documentation.
- Recommends and implements machine enhancements and upgrades to improve machine quality, reliability and efficiency while meeting all safety standards established.
- Provide leadership direction and support to team of engineers. Coaches, mentors, and trains team of engineers.
- Work closely with Engineers to ensure projects are progressing as expected, all appropriate research is done, project goals are clearly defined, and they are on schedule to meet committed dates.
- Evaluate new projects and assign to appropriate Engineers, considering project scope, current workload, and travel requirement
- Provide technical support to manufacturing engineers to accelerate process improvement projects
- Performs product/process analysis and initiates activities for continuous improvement, cost reductions, quality improvements, and improved efficiencies
- Leads front-end technical/engineering aspects of projects
- Defines performance criteria for success in early phases.
- Responsible for initiation, follow-up and timely completion of projects; works with plant personnel as well as outside contractors throughout all phases of projects
- Directs outside contractors in performing elec. and mech. projects and repairs.
- Support commercial team for key customers to promote technical capabilities and support Continuous Improvement efforts to optimize technical resources
