Essential Function of the Job
Under the direction of the Vice President for Finance, the Fiscal Specialist II performs a range of accounting support functions for the anti-poverty programs administered by the Agency. This role is responsible for payroll processing and shall possess a working knowledge of payroll laws and tax forms as well as general accounting principles; and will effectively apply their knowledge, accounting standards, relevant regulations and grant requirements to the tasks assigned.

- Prepare and process all required payrolls for staff and volunteers and maintain updated payroll processing procedures.
- Complete and submit all required payroll related taxes, reports, and forms.
- Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure travel request forms are accurate and proper documentation is included.
- Serve as backup for cash receipt processing.
- Assist in the processing of general ledger entries and month-end allocations in the accounting system.
- Assist in recording in-kind transactions on the general ledger and reviewing in-kind forms for reasonableness and compliance with grant requirements.
- Assist in preparation for the agency audit, grant funder monitoring and review activities.
- Assists the Vice President for Finance and Fiscal Compliance Specialist on special projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements of Work
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently with figures.
- Knowledge about payroll and payroll tax procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner.
- Ability to efficiently use spreadsheet applications, word processing, and accounting software.
- Knowledgeable about grants administered and reporting requirements.
- Satisfactory review of Criminal History Check.
- Work cooperatively and professionally with managers, co-workers, clients, and the public.
- Maintain positive communication at all times.
- Must work well independently as well as in a team environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a standard office environment.

Those who are granted an exemption for one of the reasons listed above are required to undergo weekly testing for current SARS COV-2 infection.
Aside from those who are granted exemptions for one of the reasons above, there is no testing option as an alternative to the vaccine requirement.
Desirable Minimum Training and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Accounting training, preferably an Associate’s Degree in accounting or related field.
- Two years related experience.
