Responsibilities*
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN), Clinical Learning Center is seeking an Instructional Learning Intermediate who will provide nursing experience and expertise in the development and operation of clinical situation simulations to nursing students in the UMSN. Ideally, s/he will have expertise in Pediatrics. The position conducts clinical learning experiences with students and works closely with the Director of Simulation and Educational Innovation and UMSN faculty. S/he will report to the Assistant Director of the Clinical Learning Center.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*Participate in the development, analysis, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare simulations, skills lab, assessment lab activities and other clinical learning center activities:
Using evidence-based nursing literature and practice, participate in the design and construction of scenarios and other learning activities in the center.
Evaluate effectiveness of scenarios and learning activities to student learning.
Revise scenarios and learning activities to meet changing curriculum requirements.
Support clinical skills learning and evaluation for undergraduate students.
*Manage the simulation database:
*Support the instructors and faculty in using simulation and case based learning:
Run simulations for the clinical groups.
Lead de-briefing sessions at the end of scenarios.
Provide introduction and orientation to students to simulation.
*Administrative Duties:
Participate in scheduling simulation times for students.
Ensure that confidentiality statements are signed and maintained.
Create, review, and revise policies and guidelines for simulation.
*Manage the activities associated with Assessment Labs:
Create lab schedules.
Teach assessments labs.
Organize and teach associated assessment clinical.
Coordinate the work of assessment labs and temporary instructors.
Maintain c-tools sites associated with assessment labs.

Required Qualifications*
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
*Bachelor of Science degree in nursing required; Master of Science degree in nursing preferred.
*Registered Nurse with a current nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure).
*Five (5) or more years of nursing experience required; expertise in Pediatrics is strongly desired.
*Experience using simulation in nursing education and teaching patient care and nursing skills is required.
*Demonstrated excellent organizational and interpersonal skills/customer service skills are required, as well as exceptional attention to detail and follow through on assignments.
*Candidate must have strong presentation and communication skills.
*Demonstrated proficiency at the intermediate level with Microsoft Office products (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Work Schedule
Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday; some occasional weekend and evening hours maybe required.
Additional Information
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Supervision is received from the Assistant Director of the Clinical Learning Center.
Salary Range: This is a 9-month position. Salary is commensurate with background and experience.
