MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from a high school or equivalent G.E.D.
- Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and qualify to drive a Division vehicle in compliance with the Division Driver Policy.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of seventy-five (75) pounds.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and outdoors under varying climatic condition.
- Must be able to walk over rough terrain and climb ladders and stairs.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Receives on-the-job training and experience in performing routine maintenance, operation, cleaning, installation and monitoring of wastewater treatment equipment and facilities, as well as biosolids handling and disposal. Additional voluntary classroom training will be provided after normal work hours at a location chosen by the Employer.
STATEMENT OF TASKS
- Assists Treatment Plant Operators, Lab Techs, IPP Tech, Mechanics, Senior Treatment Plant Operators, and Instrument Technician.
- Grease and oil pumps and equipment and maintains equipment oil levels.
- Gathers samples for analysis and assists with the performance of routine lab analysis.
- Assists Treatment Plant Operator with checking pumps, clarifiers, lagoon equipment, grinder and major pump stations, blowers, compressors, drives, chemical batching units, including storage, handling, installation and feed rates for SO2 and C12 and all other treatment plant equipment and processes.
- Assists Maintenance Mechanic with equipment maintenance, repair and replacement.
- Assists Treatment Plant Operator with unplugging sludge pumps, sewage pumps and equipment.
- Does painting and snow removal.
- Assists with operational checks on equipment and facilities.
- Mows grass and performs grounds keeping and housekeeping duties.
- Performs general cleanup of vehicles, property, equipment, tanks, manholes and system facilities.
- Operates electric and pneumatic power and hand tools.
- Performs any other work related to the classification.

- Knowledge of basic math.
