The FCA Powertrain organization is currently seeking a Powertrain Test Operations Mechanic to join the team at the Chrysler Headquarters & Tech Center in Auburn Hills, MI. The Powertrain Test Operations Mechanic, working within the Powertrain Labs at CTC is responsible for supporting engine performance, development, and calibration activities for Powertrain Engineering.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Engine setup for dynamometer testing including sensors, wiring, and fabrication
Engine mechanical disassembly and assembly
Engine testing for performance, calibration, and development activities to optimize fuel economy, emissions, performance, and combustion stability
Fabrication of exhaust, brackets and sensor installations
Working directly with Powertrain Product Engineers to complete test plans
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school diploma, GED or the equivalent
Minimum of 3 years' experience with engine dynamometer testing
Minimum 3 years' experience with engine development, performance and calibration activities
High level of understanding of engine mechanical operation as well as assembly
Basic understanding of engine combustion principles
Experience with basic fabrication and welding
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with test controllers, instrumentation and sensors
Experience with combustion measurement equipment and data acquisition
Fixture and fabrication skills
Ability to work overtime and 2nd shift
Highly motivated and strong work ethic
Strong communication skills
Great attitude and proven abilities
