Job Summary
The Network Research Specialist will support community-based research networks within the Community Engagement Program at the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR). This position will require actively engaging in research projects between academic and community-based partners; participating in ongoing data analysis activities; planning for MICHR's next grant year through strategic planning activities, and connect the work of MICHR to broader networks around the State of Michigan.
Responsibilities*
In partnership with MICHR's Community Engagement Program, the Network Research Specialist will:
Develops, designs and conducts research projects between the university, physician’s organizations and community-based organizations and practices in state-wide initiatives.
Collects, screens and participates in data analysis activities.
Conducts literature reviews, contributes to articles and grant proposals.
Collaborates in development of new techniques and develops instruments to conduct and measure community-based research.
Conducts cognitive task analysis or qualitative interviews or associated work as necessary.
Acts as a conduit between our community based-research networks and MICHR services.
Consults with partners to refine or adapt methodologies to fit specific research requirements.

Develops documentation relevant to the operational support of MICHR Community Engagement in initiatives.
Presents workshops at national and regional scientific meetings.
Trains in new data collection methods, as projects require.
Works in partnership with CE team members to:
Develop and formalize linkages between MICHR CE and other MICHR programs
Create cross-campus collaborations as they related to CE and practice based research network activities
Provides support for ongoing CE services, including development of educational offerings, events, and consultations.
Required Qualifications*
Mimimum education required is Bahelor's degree in related field with 5 to 6 years related experience.
Supervisory and financial management experience required.
Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets (especially Excel), and databases is necessary.
Candidate should be organized and possess strong attention to detail.
Must be capable of both working in a team and functioning independently, and motivated to learn.
Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team.
The ideal candidate will be able to insert him/herself into a variety of settings, communicating effectively and able to adapt to changing surroundings/work flows.
You will need reliable transportation.
Desired Qualifications*
A Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Health or similar field is desired. Experience in research, especially community based research, is highly desired.
