The Design Responsible - HVAC A/C Compressor and Plumbing is responsible to lead internal and co-design (external) teams in the development of HVAC refrigerant systems and components throughout design, release, validation and launch program phases (from inception through launch). The leadership responsibilities include employee development, performance management and supplier management. The Design Responsible will also lead core strategic initiatives to improve the capability and performance of the team (DFSS, weight savings, design practices, etc.). The responsibilities will also include working with regional counterparts to develop harmonized DVPRs, DFMEAs, specifications, design practices and standardized components.
Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
A minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive product development of HVAC or related systems
Knowledge of Product Development for HVAC Systems in one or more of the following areas: Compressors, Plumbing, Thermal Expansion Valves, Evaporators, Condensers, Refrigerant System sizing/validation and HVAC Powertrain Integration
Experience in development of DFMEA, DVP&R, and validation plans
Demonstrated Self-starter with ability to lead and direct a cross-functional team
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of a Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Previous OEM / Supplier / FCA Leadership experience is highly desirable
Problem solving and DFSS experience
Catia V5, NX, TeamCenter, FCA business system experience
Hands on experience with Design, Release and manufacturing of HVAC systems and components.
Knowledge of tooling (aluminum casting, helium leak testing, compressor and plumbing manufacturing process)
MS Office experience and direct a cross-functional team
