Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to support daily front desk and administrative operations for a healthcare organization in Flint, Michigan. This Contract position will run for approximately 3 to 6 months and is well suited for someone who can balance patient-facing service with accurate clerical work. The ideal candidate brings prior experience in a medical office setting, communicates professionally, and handles sensitive information with care.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate patient appointments, send reminders, and reconnect with individuals who miss scheduled visits.
Confirm insurance details, document coverage information accurately, and review financial eligibility requirements before services are provided.
Check for required service approvals, including prior authorizations for applicable insurance plans.
Receive copayments and other patient charges, then post payments correctly using accepted payment methods.
Welcome patients and visitors, assist with check-in activities, and provide courteous front office support throughout the day.
Prepare, type, and organize routine office documents such as letters, reports, and internal communications.
Sort incoming mail, help with outgoing correspondence, and assist with general administrative projects and meeting coordination.
Enter, access, and validate information in electronic systems while helping maintain smooth office coverage during breaks, lunches, meetings, and absences. Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in a medical receptionist, medical clerk, or similar healthcare front office role.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with physician, Medicaid, or clinical billing-related processes.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general computer-based data entry systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and visitors.
High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when handling records, scheduling, and payments.
Ability to manage confidential information appropriately and respond calmly in urgent or sensitive situations.
Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and contributing positively within a team environment. TalentMatch®
