Job Summary
The University of Michigan Medical School Software Delivery team is seeking a senior software developer to join our group. The Software Delivery team designs and creates the software needed by the Medical School to pursue its mission of providing the highest quality in education, research, and patient care. We are willing to fill this as an intermediate software developer for a candidate with strong skills but lacking experience.
We work in a collaborative environment using agile methodology and are proponents of test driven development. Our tight-knit teams provide opportunities to develop software from the ground up with chances to contribute to architecture, design, and implementation.
We are creating new applications with an emphasis on making software that is well designed and extensible. Our teams strive to solve problems with creative and innovative solutions by exploring and applying new technologies.
We seek developers who have a passion for developing well-crafted, quality software that solves complex problems while working in a collaborative environment.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent required.
- Five or more years of experience in the Java programming language.
- Experience with frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate or iBatis.
- Demonstrated experience with test driven development using a framework such as JUnit.
- Five or more years of experience in the development of web-based or client-side applications.
- Experience with front-end web development using HTML, CSS, Ajax, JavaScript and AngularJS
- Experience with version control systems such as subversion or GIT.
- Experience with agile development techniques, including story writing and paired programming.
- Willing and able to learn new technologies and methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in working well in a collaborative team environment where individuals support each other toward a common goal.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Clear written and verbal skills are
- an expectation.
Desired Qualifications*
- Some experience with mobile application development is desirable.
