Evaluate repair machinery to ensure it can complete desired functions. Diagnose and solve product problems in the factory or on-site at the customer location. Help establish robust processes with the other Manufacturing Engineers. Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, product design, or materials. Perform CAD work, programming of equipment, continuous improvement activities, and other related work. Answer questions regarding products and programs. Be responsible for the lifting column test stations. Work with China engineers when necessary to correct errors. Create work instructions in both Chinese and English for operator use. Partner with Manufacturing Supervisors to understand the actual flow of material and information. Partner with the Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Engineers to identify and correct areas that are performing less than optimally. Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of routings, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, product design, or materials. Learn all aspects of the J-Star products and their flow through the supply chain and the facility. Be able to answer questions regarding products and programs. Use 3D CAD (using SolidWorks/Creo) as needed to perform responsibilities. Design and procure tools and equipment. Evaluate and solve production and engineering problems. Collaborate remotely with engineers based in China to address manufacturing issues and correct errors; international travel is not required. Develop detailed work instructions for operator use in both English and Chinese, documenting assembly steps, testing procedures, and quality checkpoints. The employee is not required to be proficient in Chinese, as translations are handled by a support team.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s – Automotive Engineering Technology, Product Design Technology or a related engineering field of study; will accept equivalent foreign degree;
Experience: Two (2) year in the position above, Sales Application Engineer, Designer or related position.
Experience must include:
1. CAD Tooling Detailing and 3D CAD, including SolidWorks/Creo
2. Creating and maintaining engineering data in the PLM system;
3. Calibrating and maintaining lifting column test stations;
4. Product Detailing and Solid Modeling;
5. Design for Manufacturing and Advanced Machine Tools.
